How AVA Marketplace works

Plain-English summary of the marketplace rules. [AVA's full legal terms go here — have your attorney review before launch.]

Who can use it

Only dealers with a valid dealer license and credit unions verified by AVA. Inventory is visible only to approved dealers. Dealers never see which credit union is selling a vehicle or whether it is a repossession or a member trade-in.

Auctions

Auctions run for 20 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours, 12 hours or 24 hours. Bids go up in $100 steps, or a dealer can set a private maximum and AVA bids for them. A bid in the last 2 minutes extends the auction to 2 minutes from that bid.

How a sale happens

If the high bid meets the seller's hidden reserve when time runs out, the vehicle is sold automatically. If it is below the reserve, the credit union (or AVA) has 24 hours to accept it; otherwise the vehicle relists for 24 hours. Vehicles with no bids relist for 24 hours. Buy It Now is an instant, binding purchase. Accepted offers are binding.

Fees

Dealers pay a flat $300 buyer fee and credit unions pay a flat $300 seller fee, only on completed sales. There are no listing or bid fees.

Payment and pickup

AVA invoices the dealer for the price plus the buyer fee; payment by ACH or wire is due within 2 business days. Once payment clears, AVA sends the gate pass with the pickup address and pays the credit union the sale price minus the seller fee. Vehicles are sold as-is per the condition report. Arbitration claims must be made within 48 hours of pickup.
